45380 Colonoscopy with intervention: During this procedure, the colon and rectum are examined using a colonoscope, a tube with a camera at its inserted end. The provider uses this tool to look for causes of the patient’s symptoms. The provider will excise one or more areas of abnormal tissue using biopsy forceps. The biopsied tissue is then sent to the lab for diagnostic analysis.
45378 Colonoscopy without intervention: During a colonoscopy, the colon and rectum are examined using a colonoscope, a tube with a camera at its inserted end. If the provider sees any areas of abnormal tissue, samples will be collected using a brush passed through the scope. Specimens are then sent to the laboratory for diagnostic analysis.
